Hebrew Month of Av: Mystical Meditations and Yoga
Av is a raw, difficult month where we are intimate with our pain and suffering. We process the trauma and sadness this month by being deeply present with our emotions ,so we can begin to transform them into healing and light. By Tu B’av, the energy shifts to a more chesed/ light & kind energy. The work we do now allows us to move towards the holiday of love (Tu B’Av) with open vessels to receive love. This month, practice breathing into any difficult thoughts or emotions, as though you are creating a wide open space around the experience. Each intentional breath of healing brings you closer to revealing the hidden goodness in the struggles.
A full yoga manual is given each month to students in the Jewish Yoga Course. Below is the full yoga Manual for Av. To receive this in full PDF form, email breathandsoul.net@gmail.com.
Guided Video Practices:
What blocks you from truly receiving and listening to others? Where in life you can practice the art of listening more? Tune into the Avodah of the month (the inner sense of listening👂🏻) through breath work, meditations, and a slow-flow yoga sequence in the Jerusalem Forest. 🌳
Sefer Yetzirah teaches that the month of Av is when we elevate the sense of listening/hearing. Before we can begin to listen to others, first we need to listen deeply to ourselves: to pain, our emotions, our intuition, our body, and our breath.
🧘♀️Meditation is really a form of deep listening, of listening to the deeper parts of ourselves. How often do we tune ourselves out, ignoring our deep needs and inner authentic selves? This month, we cultivate the skill of inner, and then outer listening. 👂🏻
