Before the Babylonian exile, this month’s name was Ziv, meaning “radiance.” The Talmud elaborates , “Why was that month called Ziv? Because it in was the radiance of the world, in which the plants and trees are known”-Talmud Rosh hashana 6a
It is in this month that the earth’s beauty is naturally revealed to us with radiance. “Ziv Ha’Olam”, the “radiance of the world”, Is folded into each day of this month. The Sefirot that we count each day during this month refines our attributes to shine our radiance into the world. The Hebrew word for Sefirah has the root Sapir/ Sapphire, defined as a diamond that reflects light. Like a diamond, our radiant energy is a reflection of the divine light above.
